“For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God who said ‘Let light shine out of darkness’, has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” II Corinthians 4:5-6

Advent Week 3 at HBC

This week for Advent I’ll be preaching on Luke 2:14. This is the angels' song known as “The Gloria”. Like so many other texts of scripture, we often overlook the sheer clarity of what is being revealed. The angels sing “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased”. Notice it doesn’t say all people. There will not be peace on earth for all people. There will only be peace for those “with whom he is pleased”. So, this Sunday I’ll be asking the question “with whom is he pleased?”
