“For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God who said ‘Let light shine out of darkness’, has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” II Corinthians 4:5-6

New Church, New Blog

For those of you who have been with me from the beginning, thanks. Thanks for your prayers, support, and input. For those of you, who are new to my blogging, welcome. I pray that my random thoughts, pictures, and links may be edifying for you.

Why start a new blog?

I’ve turned a new page in my life. I have finished my formal training for the ministry (the education never stops!). Through the mercy of the Almighty I was ordained in the North American Baptist Conference in January and now I have taken my first pastorate in Columbus NE, at Shell Creek Baptist Church. I look forward to keeping up with my fellow bloggers from Tentmakers, and meeting new bloggers through my ministry in Columbus.

What’s with the name of the blog?

I was recently reading “Dangerous Journey” (Pilgrims Progress with pictures) to my boys, when I came to the following quote from Evangelist to Christian and Faithful.

“Don’t think you’re out of gun-shot of the Devil. For as the Gospel says, my sons, in order to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, you have to pass through many tribulations.”

Evangelist is right. We are always within gunshot of the Devil. To think otherwise, is foolish. So, as I start my new journey in Columbus NE, it is good for me to remember that we are always within gunshot of the Devil.
